POST 8: FOOD AND EATING HABITS

I’m not sure if I have goods eating habits. I eat vegetables and also meat, I like them both equally.  I don’t like much the fast food because it has high fat. My favorite foods are the typical Chilean food and the Chinese food. I try to eat little sugar because I have some problems with the insulin; some people of mi maternal family are diabetic.  This is a good reason to eat healthy food! But some days I enjoy a good hamburger o some chips. 

  I like to eat in restaurants, but I like the comfort of my home or homes of friends. I have diet just once, because I needed lower my sugar. Now, I started to eat Japanese food because is healthier than others (like Chinese food because is frying), but the trouble is that it is more expensive than the others typical meals.

I have a good memory about the food when I was a little child. I can remember the smell when my great-grandmother cooked some soup with a lot of vegetables. In this summer I would like to drink more natural juices, because I don’t like drink just water and neither soda because it has a lot of sugar. I wild like to try new mixture of flavors, like carrot with basil; I heard that mixture is healthy and nutritious to the body. In the future I want to eat better and accompanied with exercise. 

POST 6: HOW GREEN ARE YOU?

I think the most of people learns about environmentally friendly practices riding the web (Facebook, Greenpeace, etc.). When I was 4 years old, my parents told me about the importance of the land care. They showed me TV shows about the global warming and some magazines about the environmentally friendly. In my daily life I recycle from glass bottles to plastic bags. I like so much to help the environment. I use my legs and public transport in the city (I live very far away from everything). I did not support some eco-organizations because I have not the opportunity to do it. In the near future I would like to support any environmental group.

To help the environment I recycle and I talk about the environment  to the little children. I don´t know how much carbon footprint I use, but its must be a little less than the average citizen (I worrying to do it better!). In Santiago we can find places to recycle, but Santiago people  aren´t  awareness of it. There is much pollution because Santiago has many cars. Finally, I think we must be having an ecological awareness. Environmental awareness especially for children!! (Schools and homes). For example, children can learn to care for a tree and can learn about many recycling possibilities (It would be very entertaining for them). Then, they could teach other children.

We will have a better quality of life in the future, I'm sure about it!!

POST 5: VIDEO GAMES

I don’t use the computer to play video-games. I've played a computer game. It was “Sonic” game.  I considered that the video games are productive just if we played for a few minutes, not all day!! . I hear that they are very entertained, but you must spend just few minutes in the week, because they can hypnotize.  Then, play video games it’s not a waste of time, if you control the time. I don’t play computer games because I'm not good at it, I try, but it’s not for me, but also y don´t play because I prefer spend time in watch movies , read a book, or I dedicate time to my friends. I think that the people that playing computer games are very funny for one hand and serious for the other hand (because they need concentrations). In conclusions, I don’t think it is harmful. The computer games can use productively, I know people who learn so much about the world history, it’s a very entertaining way to learn about (it’s not entertaining read a book about some history topics). I use the computer mostly to work on the university , but I have fun on the computer watching an online movie, reviewing Facebook, reading some interesting text about anything ( I love read a lot on internet, they are some many interesting books!! ).

POST 4: SUMMARY FROM A CAREER-RELATED ARTICLE

Velázquez portrait has pride of place in Prado – but original may be in Dorset (by Paul Hamilos).

The article is about the famous painting called “Las meninas”, was done by Velazquez. The news describes the authenticity  of the painting located in National Trust.

The original painting is in the Prado Museum, but there is a second copy in the National Trust. For a long time is believed that the painting in the national Trust is a copy. The author of the article describes that On Wednesday in Royal Academy of Fine Arts it became an event. Hundreds of people gathered to listen to one of Spain's most respected art historians. The professional said that the painting in the national trust is not a copy, but original draft of the painting (in the Prado Museum).

The doctor Diaz Padron said that he made thorough investigation and this led him to believe that the painting located in the national Trust was painted by Velasquez, is an original. Padron said that the painting documented as an original in the XVII and XVIII centuries. But in the XIX and XX centuries, the painting is a copy from Juan Bautista Martínez del Mazo, successor as painter to the royal court. Padron argued that the painting was the  first boceto painted by Diego, then the king asked him to reproduce on a large scale (in the Prado Museum). Padron does not see differences between both paintings. On the other hand, the Prado Museum denies that this painting owned By The National Trust is an original.

POST 3: JAPANESE ANIMATION

The anime is a cartoon style that was born in Japan. As a child the first anime I saw was “supercampeones”. This series told the story of several characters who belonged to a youth soccer team. I remember very well when Oliver (main character) ran half the football field with a lot of drama (the series was devoted extensive minutes only show that). Like good little girl, I liked the team goalkeeper Oliver called Benji. One of my favorites anime was “Dragon ball”, I liked the color palette that was used, and the sense of humor that had the characters, but  I didn´t like  the fights (many chapters are devoted only to them). In both anime I liked the drama and movement of the characters and also recreated places: the architecture of the city (supercampeones) and natural landscape (dragon ball). After the first years of childhood I never went back to watching anime. I don´t feel attracted to Japanese culture. I heard songs from anime, but only chapters I've seen. I don´t like the anime soundtracks.

I would like to see these cartoons again and remember old times.

POST 1: MY IDEAL JOB

My dream job would be in a museum. Selecting works of art for an exhibition. Choosing the subject matter of the sample and also choose the order of the works. Would need to be trained in various skills that enable among others the expocision, preservation, and management of real artistic. Also would need a great team to support me in the various tasks that need to be made. I really would like to develop in this type of work because it is one of the most entertaining areas of the art world. You can meet many artists and many people related to the art world as well. It is difficult to find this kind of work because the art circuit is small in this country. You must have experience to be for example curator at the "Museo de bellas artes". Although you can start being curator expositions in small galleries. Hopefully one day I can be a great art curator.

POST 2: A COUNTRY I'D LIKE TO VISIT

I´d like to visit Mexico, because i think this is a beautiful country with a beautiful people. 

Mexico is the second most populous country in Latin America.There are so much delicious food. I saw in television so many people eating and drinking tequila there. I would like to drink tequila in Mexico, because its a very traditional drink in this country. I would like to visit the Bellas artes palace because they are a murals of Diego Rivera, saw them it would be very exciting! I would like to visit Mexico´s national Museum of anthropology, because the museum expose so much Maya objects. The museum contains one of the most world´s largest collections of archaeological and anthropological artifacts from pre-Hispanic Maya civilizations to the Spanish conquest. I would like to live in Mexico because i could work in some area related with a history of arts, more precisely history of Maya art. I think, Mexico its a very beautiful place to visit because it has an extraordinary culture (traditional food and art). Should be more fun to live in Mexico than Chile.

AUTOEVALUACION

I think the blog experience was interesting because i learned english in a different way, not in the tipical highschool style. So, i think the blog healped me to apply the english language in my regular life, considering my hobbies and my favourite things in the history of art. In that way, i also think that english is vital for professional understanding and comprehension of art, in all of it's forms, because art is a fenomenon that is global, and in that sence, it takes part in many cultures and periods of history.

That is why i think using english to express my interest in art makes me feel so much prepare to investigate more information, and comunicate my learning in a common sence with the people i care about.

I also think that been capable of comunicate in english, open the oportunity for me to get to know other people who speak english, like americans or europeans, and share experiences that will gave me other points of view. I think that is important because the subjective part in art is what makes us to express our own vision of the world.

In that way, i suggest that the blog could be shared with people from other places, or foreigners who live now in Chile, to be able to create a colective contribution and a shared point of view of a particular theme in today art movements, to generate new theories.

I Chose

Hi. I chose a music video by madonna. She is one of the most iconic singers today in America. She has inspired many artists marking trends in every artistic area (music, fashion, music video, performance, etc.)
She has earned the title of "the queen of pop" according to critics and music specialists, and has inspired the career of young pop artists such as Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Lady Gaga. Ever since the album "the Immaculate Collection" was launch with this single "Vogue" in 1990 the word Vogue, which until then was only used by specialized fashion people was too popularized by the song, so the word was changed into "Chic".The music video of the song Vogue works with a black and white aesthetic, and through dancers and the choreography and the gowns she used, Madonna's trying to reflect the meaning of the word "Vogue" (simply elegant). The trends Madonna has inspired since the eighty’s through her eccentric or revealing looks and her ever changing hair style (which has been black, red, blonde, short, curly, etc.), she's been introduced as a "Fashion icon". She’s a talented singer and performer which will always be a part of the artistic world in America, that’s why I recommend this music video, and especially because of the history behind the “Vogue” song.

Learning english

I think nowadays english is a fundamental language. If you don’t know how to speak english is as you don´t know how to use a computer. Has been very useful for my career to learn english. Now I can read many art texts in english (most of the translations are in english). English 3 classes help me to think in english, I have faster answers because I try to think in english rather than spanish.  Moreover learn english has been very helpful in the most common areas of my life, for example I can understand the “instructions” of many things. There are some things I’d change about english classes, I’d like to change how we start learning english in levels 1 and 2. We should learn to think and speak in english since the firs levels because in level 3 taking the pace is very complex. I think we should talk more between us about issues of our interest. Anyway english classes are a great contribution.

A Darwinian Theory of Beauty?

Denis Dutton talks about beauty. And it’s a very complicated question because there are a lot of answers. People can say that beauty is subjective or culturally conditioned, but there are universal cross-culture aesthetic pleasures. Denis Dutton explains this universality through a Darwinian evolutionary history of our artistic and aesthetic tastes. The idea is trying to understand our aesthetic tastes basing in the human evolution. The beauty we find in skilled performances is a fundamental trait of the ancestral personality that persists in us. The beauty is in our minds because the evolution. I think this explication of the beauty is very original. This theory is extremely fantastic because isn’t responds to a conventional aesthetic thought and makes a lot of sense.

Post Rock Music

Hi, today I will talk about the post rock music and one of my favorite band. This kind of music has many characteristics. For example the sound incorporates characteristics from a variety of musical genres likes Jazz, electronic, ambient and experimental. The compositions often make use of repetition of musical motifs and subtle changes with an extremely wide range of dynamics. The vocals aren`t so important, the most important is the music. But when vocals are included, the use is typically non-traditional. For example some post-rock bands employ vocals as purely instrumental efforts and incidental to the sound. They are so many post rock bands, but they are untitled. The most important band or the most famous exponent is “Sigur Ros”. They are from Iceland. Their music has a combination between ambient and rock sound, like guitar, bass. Their albums are so beautiful, I like listen it in my long travels, when I can see the landscape out side, through the window. 

In the concert

Hi, today i’m going to talk about a Concert i went to, from a rock band named The Kills, formed by American singer Alison Mosshart and his guitarist Jamie Hince. The concert was in October of the last year, in Teatro Providencia. The show started at 9:30 in the evening and it last 2 hours long.  The first album that i listen was Midnight Boom, and i liked the rythm of it, that is a mixture of electronic beats, solo guitars  and  ironic lyrics.

The concert began with the song Future Starts Slow, and all the people was excited. Also, there was a lot of diferent type of people, like young boys and girls, hipsters, alternative old people,  and more. I felt out of place because me and my friends don’t belong to any subculture or music style. The singer has a personal style like punk-rock, with red hair and leotard leggins, and the guitarist looked likea hippie rock cool man. I personaly think that he’s a very good looking man, and very talented to. Also the stage was decorated with leotard prints and  a lot of candelabra lamps.

I think the concert was very good, but it past so fast. The sound system was excellent because it was envolving, so you can hear it without interferences or disgusting noises. At the end, i experienced a great moment with my friends because we share good time together, having the oportunity to see a band that, i think, will surprise us with more unexpected new albums.

Autobiography

Hi, my name is Andrea Soto Rubio. I define myself as friendly. Now I will tell you quickly a little history about my life. I´m from Navidad, a small village on the coast of the sixth region, but I was born in Santiago on October 30 at the clinic “Las Lilas”.
My mother was very young in that moment, she was 17 years old. From 5 to 14 years old I had a happy life living whit my parents, but when I have 14 years old I moved to Santiago to study. Then at 18 years old I went to study Design at the University of Valparaiso for one year and I return to Santiago to continue Graphic Design in Universidad Arcis. I studied there for two years and leave it for several problems.

Then I started to study Teoria e Historia del Arte  and now i’m in my third year. The last year my mother surprised me whit a beautiful little brother. It was my responsability his name, and I called him Gaspar. He’s the best thing that could have happened to me in the last period of my life. It is surprising because we have a difference of 24 years old, and because he is my only brother. I´m so happy with him.

David Lynch

Hello Everyone!! Today I’m going to talk about some David Lynch films. He’s from EE.UU and he was born on 1946. He’s also director and producer, photographer, composer and graphic artist. His movies are very strange, helped by the music of Angelo Badalamenti, who works whit him in all his movies, and always have a surrealist scene. Most of his films talks about the American society.
Well, the first movie i saw was “Mulholland Dr”, starring by Naomi Watts and Laura Elena Harring. it`s a strange movie because it talks about two stories, and two girls with different names in that stories. This great movie don`t have just one theory, but the most popular is that talk about two parts of the film. The first part would be a dream, and the second part would be the reality, then you can understand all movie. You should see it!

Other great movie than you can see is call “Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me”. This film was the prequel of the tv-serie call “Twin peaks”. It`s about a girl named “Laura Palmer” (starring by Sheryl Lee) and this movie tells the story before her death. Shows us the places that Laura Palmer visited and her friendships (The tv-serie “Twin Peaks” began with her lifeless  body).
The most understandable movie of Lynch is “The Straight Story”, i like it so much because it’s based on the true story of Alvin Straight's journey across Iowa and Wisconsin on a lawnmower. Alvin go to visit his brother before he dies. Is a beautiful films and his music is so exciting.

Hi. I will talk about the next picture, it is my favorite photography in all my life.

I took this picture on January 23, when i was in the Usach University. That day I was in there because one of my favorites friends invited me a big party that night.  I was in there like 6 or 8 o`clock with my boyfriend, and he told me “ take me a picture now, because the sky its so beautiful”, then I took his camera ( a big and very old camera) and I took that picture. You can see the figure is in back light and the sky is complete yellov, there is nothing more than that color, its make me feel so calm. The other thing that I can remember from this moment is the so quiet ambient.  In the right side you can see a part of the tree in back lights to.

 

I like so much this picture because the pose it`s so simple, and of course, because I was in love of the person in the photography. I should printed in a big size and put in my room to remember this moment all days.
